The Minister for Women, the Hon Jacquie Petrusma has announced the Tasmanian Government Board Diversity Governance Scholarship Program for 2018 is open for applications.
The Scholarship Program aims to increase the governance and leadership skills of Tasmanian women who are emerging leaders and to support them to be board-ready.
The Tasmanian Government is especially seeking applications from women who face the most barriers to professional development opportunities and leadership roles, including board and committee appointments.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women with disability, women from migrant and refugee backgrounds and women working in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) areas are strongly encouraged to apply.
Successful applicants have the opportunity to undertake the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ Foundations of Directorship course in November followed by a six-month tailored program of events and activities, including workshops, briefings and networking sessions.
The Board Diversity Governance Scholarship Program is a joint initiative of the Tasmanian Government and the Australian Institute of Company Directors and supports the Government’s Women on Boards Strategy 2015-2020 to increase the representation of women on government boards and committees to 50 per cent by 2020.
Applications close 9 am on Monday 15 October 2018.
