Safe Home, Safe Families: Tasmania’s Family Violence Action Plan 2015-2020 is the Tasmanian Government’s new, coordinated, whole-of-government action plan to respond to family violence.
Communities, Sport and Recreation is leading the following actions:
The National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010 - 2022 (the National Plan) brings together the efforts
of all Australian governments to make a real and sustained reduction in the levels of violence against women.
The National Plan is being delivered through four, three year Action Plans:
Key achievements of the National Plan to date include the establishment of Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS), Our Watch and 1800RESPECT and the development of Daisy.
Tasmania has developed complementary plans to implement the National Plan, which outline what we need to achieve and how we will achieve it, in order to reduce violence against women and their children in Tasmania.
The Tasmanian responses to the National Plan have been informed by a National Plan Interdepartmental Advisory Committee and a Consultative Group, whose membership includes key non-government organisations.
The major priority for Tasmania in responding to the National Plan is primary prevention.
In September 2013, the Tasmanian Government launched Taking Action: Tasmania’s Primary Prevention Strategy to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children 2012-2022. A review of Taking Action will be undertaken by CSR by early 2016.
