New Women in Building and Construction Website Launched

Through the Tasmanian Government Women’s Workforce Participation initiative, we are supporting projects aimed at increasing the attraction, recruitment, retention and advancement of women in non-traditional industries and areas where women are traditionally underrepresented.

Keystone Tasmania’s Women in Construction website highlights the many career opportunities within the building and construction sector and highlights the inspiring women who are part of building Tasmania’s future.

The website, which was co-funded by the Tasmanian Government, will help raise awareness of career options for women in the building and construction sector, and through providing more information and resources, reduce barriers to work in the industry, and recruit and retain women in trades and management roles across the sector.

The building and construction sector is one of the largest employers in Tasmania and plays an important role in growing our strong economy. To meet the current and future demands of this sector it is important we have women as part of this workforce.

By increasing the number of women in construction, we can unlock the labour potential of our whole community. We can also create a more equal Tasmania where women and girls have the choice to work in any industry, be in any profession and participate in any area of society. We can help to ensure women have greater economic security and are empowered to participate and take up positions of leadership and influence.
