New Safe from Violence website launched

The Premier and Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence, the Hon Peter Gutwein MP, is proud to launch Safe from Violence, Tasmania’s online central point of information for family and sexual violence. This launch has been pushed forward to meet the additional family violence measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Safe from Violence will provide clear and targeted information, online resources and links about family and sexual violence for victim-survivors, perpetrators, family and friends of victims-survivors and perpetrators, service providers (specialist, mainstream and universal) and the community.

It will also increase community awareness about family violence and its underlying drivers; provide family and sexual violence service contact information; and pathways to seeking support.

Safe from Violence is an initiative out of Safe Homes, Families, Communities: Tasmania’s action plan for family and sexual violence 2019-2022 (Safe Homes, Families, Communities) which outlines a vision for our State where all Tasmanians are safe, equal and respected and our homes, families and communities are free from all forms of family and sexual violence.

As part of Safe Homes, Families, Communities, the Tasmanian Government committed to developing a family and sexual violence website after it was identified as a need from the Hearing Lived Experience Survey, the Family Violence Service System Review and community consultation for the development of Safe Homes, Families, Communities.
