Veteran Wellbeing Voucher Program now open

The Tasmanian Government is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of Tasmanian veterans. As part of that commitment a new initiative, the Veteran Wellbeing Voucher Program, is now open for sporting clubs and gyms to register.

Eligible Tasmanian veterans will soon be able to apply for a voucher of up to $100 to put towards the cost of registration or membership fees at participating gyms and sporting clubs. Applications for veterans to join will open in early May.

Gyms and sports clubs will also benefit by an opportunity to grow their membership and will be reimbursed for each voucher they accept. The program is open to gyms and clubs throughout Tasmania.

The objective of the Program is to enable veteran’s participation in healthy activities that will support their health and wellbeing and assist in developing social networks.

A veteran is defined as person that has served at least one day in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The Program does not include current serving members of the ADF.

The Tasmanian Government is providing $200 000 over the next four years to the Veteran Wellbeing Voucher Program.

Active participation in health and wellbeing programs supports the State Government’s goal to make Tasmania the healthiest population in Australia by 2025. Participation in physical activity and wellbeing programs is also a factor in addressing veteran and defence suicide in Australia.
