International Women's Day

When is it?

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated globally on 8 March every year. It is a significant day to recognise and celebrate the economic, political, and social achievements of women.

What happens in Tasmania?

Each year, Tasmania hosts a wide range of events to mark IWD. While the official day is 8 March, activities often run throughout the week to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate.

These events typically focus on:

  • Celebrating past achievements and contributions of women.
  • Exploring future visions for gender equality and empowerment.
