The Tasmanian Community Fund

One (1) Southern Board Member

The Tasmanian Community Fund (the Fund) was established in 1999 to invest in and strengthen Tasmanian communities. Since its first funding round in 2000, the Board has awarded more than $144 million to over 3,260 projects right across the State. The Fund is governed by the Tasmanian Community Fund Act 2005 and receives an annual reserved by-law appropriation. The Board has broad discretion to allocate funds to projects that contribute to vibrant, capable and resilient communities.

Board members play an important role in ensuring that the objectives of the Fund are met and that public money is used wisely to benefit Tasmanians. Members work together to guide the Fund’s strategy, assess grant applications, and engage with communities across the State.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Southern Board Member to contribute to positive, lasting change for Tasmanian communities. Board members share responsibility for the effective governance of the Fund. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting and reviewing the strategic direction of the Fund
  • Reading, assessing, and approving grant applications
  • Approving the Fund’s annual budget and monitoring performance
  • Attending site visits, presentations, and community events
  • Contributing to Board reviews and providing feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Promoting the Fund’s objectives within the Tasmanian community.

The successful applicant will be based in Southern Tasmania and will demonstrate well-established community networks, and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Contemporary governance and strategic planning skills together with demonstrated experience as a non‐executive director
  • Understanding of complex social, economic and wellbeing needs of Tasmanian communities
  • Legal, accounting, financial management, quality management, media/marketing or IT expertise
  • Stakeholder engagement and community leadership.

A collaborative approach, critical and independent thinking, sound judgement and a commitment to community is also required.

Public Trustee

One (1) Chairperson Vacancy

The Public Trustee has been serving Tasmanians for over 100 years and continues to provide specialist services to the Tasmanian community in relation to Wills, Estates and Trustee services. Operating as a Government Business Enterprise, the organisation has branches located in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.

The Public Trustee is an independent and impartial organisation whose vision is to be recognised for its professionalism, respected for its integrity and valued by its clients. The Public Trustee has its customers at the centre of everything it does. Sound governance, communication and a responsive culture underpin all Public Trustee’s work.

The role of Chairperson is a key appointment for the Public Trustee at a time of continued transformation of the organisation. The Chairperson will provide leadership to the Board and work with the CEO in focusing on strategic matters and maintaining high governance standards. The Chairperson will also play a central role in leading the Board to meet community expectations of the Public Trustee, particularly in relation to the delivery of services and customer experiences that provide best achievable outcomes for all clients of the Public Trustee. The role of the Board is to ensure the Public Trustee provides its services with empathy, dignity and respect.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in leading successful development and functioning of a high performing Board and assuring a strategic focus and an inclusive and effective Board culture. Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, excellent judgement, a strong customer focus and an understanding of the importance of sound governance is essential. An understanding of the Tasmanian community and the environment that the Public Trustee operates in is also required.

Department of Treasury and Finance - Audit and Risk Committee

​​​​Treasury's Audit and Risk Management Committee provides independent assurance to the Secretary of the Department of Treasury and Finance on Treasury's financial and perform​ance reporting responsibilities, risk oversight and management systems of internal controls.

The Department of Treasury and Finance invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who are residents of Tasmania for appointment as an Independent Member on its Audit and Risk Committee.

Expressions of interest should address the requirements outlined in the Applicant Information Kit.

The position will commence on or after I January 2026 for an initial period of up to three years.

The successful candidate will receive an annual sitting fee of $6 500 per annum and will be expected to undertake out-of-session work such as reviewing Committee papers and attend five meetings a year in Hobart, in person. The member will be reimbursed for any reasonable travel expenses, if required.
